Do you want to head off road with your family and friends in your 4WD?

DSI offers the perfect way to learn about your 4WD vehicle in a safe and fun environment that is also family friendly.

Tag a Long tours offer an alternative to traditional 4WD training courses. Tag a long tours visit real off road areas and are more hands on with a focus on safety and fun.

All courses have a range of easy/medium obstacles that can be completed safely with minimum risk of any damage to your vehicles. Our tour leaders have extensive experience in four wheel driving and eco-tourism.

All tours are limited to maximum of seven (7) vehicles. Most courses are suitable for all drivers and vehicles (AWD and 4WD). If your not sure please contact us for more information.

4X4 Course Outline

  • 1 Day Course
  • Introduction / Drivers Briefing on 4WD systems and safety
  • Recovery points and safety
  • Tour will cover a variety of terrain. A brief will be provided and coaching offered to negotiate each obstacle.
  • Small sized groups
  • Lunch stops at scenic spots (bring the camera)
  • Permits Included
  • Tread lightly and Eco Tourism procedures in place for all tours

DSI deliver nationally recognised training to some of the largest organisations in Australia including the Australian Defence Force, BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and WorkCover SA.

Our trainer(s) on the day will be a Cert IV qualified trainer with experience in delivering our defensive driving and corporate 4WD courses. You will be in safe hands!

The day will be family friendly – so bring your partner and kids. No pets however can come along – sorry.

4WD Vehicle Requirements

  • Vehicles have to have at least 50% tyre tread and carry a spare – set tyre pressure to 40PSi initially
  • A basic recovery kit of 2 x rated bow shackles and snatch strap is recommended
  • Front and rear recovery points on all vehicles are recommended
  • UHF radio in good working order

What To Bring

  • Always attend with a full tank of fuel. Unless you are driving a super modified vehicle this will be ample
  • Recovery gear – Bring what you have – make sure its clean and in good condition
  • Bring some morning tea and lunch that you can enjoy along the way
  • Don’t forget your camera!

Sydney Tag-A-Long 4WD Tours

The Watagans & Olney State Forests

Overview
Located just 90 minutes north of Sydney, this area is popular with 4×4 drivers, bikers and bush walkers. This is a place with plenty to offer.

Being close to Sydney, the Watagans offers variety from easy to extreme but this tour is especially suitable for those with some basic skills and knowledge. If you are wishing to use your 4wd for what it was intended for, then this is the trip that may suite you. These tracks offer 4wders a challenge without going to extreme.

Suitability
Suitable for those with moderate skills and 4wd vehicles with dual range and adequate ground clearance.

Additional requirements for this tour:

  • A full fuel tank from Sydney will be adequate

Newnes State Forest & Lost City

Overview
This is a fabulous tour that starts at the iconic Zig Zag railway and meanders through epic tall timber forests of Newnes State Forest.

If you want to get your 4wd into low range then this is the trip for you. We will negotiate a variety of terrain to visit areas such as the Lost City. There are some great but not too difficult tracks that will challenge your ability and all under the expert guidance of your tour leader. So bring the family and your camera.

Suitability
Suitable for all levels of drivers and 4wd vehicles with dual range and adequate ground clearance.

Additional requirements for this tour:

  • A full fuel tank from the Lithgow area will be adequate

Additional information

The Tour leader reserves the right to refuse any person or vehicle, that they think is not capable of undertaking the trip in a safe and comfortable manner

The tour leader has extensive experience in 4wding, 4wd training and Eco tourism.

An extensive set of recovery equipment is also carried but clients are encouraged to carry and use their own set.

The tour leader reserves the right to refuse access to any one they think may not be competent of driving the route safely due to skill level or vehicle capabilities. If unsure, please contact our friendly staff who will assist.

We always take our responsibilities seriously and the need to ensure a safe, harmonious and enjoyable day out for all is paramount.

Due to our Tread Lightly philosophy, we reserve the right to alter, postpone or cancel any tour due to adverse weather conditions, deteriorated track conditions or State Forestry advice. We will endeavour to provide as much notice as possible to all clients.

All tours are limited to maximum of seven (7) vehicles plus the tour leader’s. Further information will be forwarded once your application is confirmed.
